Finally finished a big project. And being ill, on and off. Well, almost, it seems my long dead thyroid became a zombie, and is back to get me with all its friends. No worries, I have a chainsaw

I've been reading a lot about Slavic mythology lately - sourly disappointed now, btw, seems 90% of what is known now is made up, as Slavs paid more attention to the close-at-hand gods and spirits and honouring them - that is giving food and drink offerings to gods, spirits and ancestors at home, near lake, spring, forest, trees, etc. - then to some big gods that rule all, like Odin, Zeus, etc. Hence they didn't actually leave any complex, detailed and set in stone pantheon to learn about today. Perun, the hammer-wielding thunder god was most probably Thor adapted from Scandinavian folks that came to Slavic lands. It kinda is amazing, that most of Slavs neighbours had writing systems and have a lot of evidence of their pre-christian believes, yet close to nothing survived here. There's the statue from Zbrucz (and only suspicions about who it is), there are some foreign descriptions of few temples (I'm thinking about Poland here). I know Slavs generally used wood as building and carving material, so it was easily burned and otherwise destroyed, but still -I'm disappointed. No written evidence. I find it hard to believe, that people who had contacts and traded with all those advanced places and cultures, didn't have any writing system.
"My lord, we have intercepted and killed another envoy, he had this scribblings with him... it's probably magic, it didn't do HIM any good, so I suggest we destroy it. You know, to avoid bad luck." O.o
To see the current WIps go to my FB page, I put them in "WIP" folder.
