Late evening on June 24th 1865 HM Royal Navy vessels were gaining upon the famous pirate ship, Darkwater's Siren. Her captain, miss Rose Darkwater, was a granddaughter of renowned pirate, Edward Blackbeard. Darkwater's Siren was out of ammunition after a long battle with British Navy, and her only hope of survival was to outrun the pursuit.
According to the journals of captain John McFarenson, suddenly four pairs of giant tentacles emerged from the dark waters of the sea, grabbed the ship closest to Darkwater's Siren and pulled her underwater. Panic spread amongst the HM Navy ships. Four more vessels were pulled underwater before the rest of the pursuers managed to escape, and Darkwater's Siren was again free to roam the Atlantic.
Miss Rose had this very choker made in honour of the beast, that her and her crew's lives that day.
